Dr. Craig Whiteside is an associate professor with the Naval War College at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he teaches national security affairs. A former infantry officer with service in Iraq, he has a PhD in political science from Washington State University. His dissertation topic was the Islamic State movement’s political worldview (2003-2013), and he has published on Islamic State media, strategy, irregular warfare campaigns, and leadership dynamics. He is a nonresident fellow at the Naval War College’s Center for Irregular Warfare and Armed Groups and the International Center for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) - The Hague.
