On May 25, 2016, the Program on Extremism at the George Washington University hosted Justin Siberell, Acting Coordinator for the Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism. Acting Coordinator Siberell used the venue to discuss the forthcoming release of the first joint State and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) strategy on Countering Violent Extremism. The event was attended by high-profile officials and members of the media eager to discuss the changes to the U.S CVE strategy. After Acting Coordinator Siberell’s remarks, there was a question and answer period moderated by Seamus Hughes, Deputy Director of the Program on Extremism.
