Prevention of Radicalization: The French Approach

On, April 3, 2017, the Center for Cyber & Homeland Security (CCHS) and Program on Extremism at The George Washington University hosted an event featuring Ms. Muriel Domenach, Secretary General of the Interagency Committee for the Prevention of Crime and Radicalization in France. Ms. Domenach has been in her current position since August of 2016 and has previously served in a variety of senior positions with the French government on issues of national security and international affairs. In a recent opinion piece that was originally published in le Monde, Ms. Domenach describes evolving approaches to de-radicalization and the importance of prevention in France. Frank Cilluffo, Director of the Center for Cyber & Homeland Security and Seamus Hughes, Deputy Director of the Program on Extremism moderated a discussion with Ms. Domenach following her remarks.
