Summary

On October 26, 2017, the Program on Extremism hosted a discussion examining the role of technology in terrorism. The Program released its publication Digital Decay: Tracing Change Over Time Among English-Language IS Sympathizers on Twitter, and highlighted its newest project, the Telegram Tracker. As part of the release, panelists discussed the morphing ventures of jihadists in the digital sphere. After debunking misconceptions and highlighting key trends, the panelists identified strategies to undercut violent extremists and their online networks. The panel, moderated by the Program on Extremism's Deputy Director Seamus Hughes, included:
