Summary
On June 13, 2019, the Program on Extremism hosted a panel on terrorism prevention programs in the United States. While terrorism prevention issues are often viewed through the lens of criminal justice, it is important to recognize that the rise and spread of different extremist ideologies and movements is a multifaceted challenge that requires a non-governmental approach.
To address these issues, the Program on Extremism hosted a roundtable discussion featuring three experts on extremism and deradicalization. Program on Extremism Senior Research Fellow Dr. Haroro Ingram moderated a panel discussion on the complexities and nuances of this topic. The panelists included:
- Myrieme Churchill, Executive Director of Parents for Peace
- Mubin Shaikh, Co-author of Undercover Jihadi
- Arno Michaelis, Author of My Life After Hate and co-author of The Gift of Our Wounds; Director of Serve 2 Unite
