On October 20, 2020, the Program on Extremism at The George Washington University held a virtual conversation with Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Seth D. DuCharme. The discussion, moderated by Program on Extremism Deputy Director Seamus Hughes, addressed Seth's work in the U.S. Attorney's Office on terrorism and extremism prevention.
Acting U.S. Attorney DuCharme has prosecuted a wide range of cases in his 12-year career with the U.S. Attorney's Office. Prior to his appointment as Acting U.S. Attorney, Seth served as Chief of the Criminal Division and held supervisory positions in the General Crimes and National Security & Cybercrimes Sections. Seth has also served as a National Security Cyber Specialist and representative on the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council. In July 2020, he concluded a detail to Main Justice in D.C. as the Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General. Leading up to that detail, Seth served as Counselor to the Attorney General, where he worked on transnational organized crime and other criminal and national security matters. Among his numerous awards is the EOUSA Director's Award for his innovative work in developing an early engagement program to disrupt potential extremists.
